Recovering Founder | Writer | Business Strategist | University Administrator | Connector | Maverick
Thanks for stopping by. I enjoy meeting new people and connecting with old friends.
By day I am a not-so-mild-mannered university administrator and very occasional marketing and business planning consultant. My alter-ego is a writer, pursuing an MFA in creative non-fiction at the University of King’s College in Halifax. I am writing a book about life after start-ups tentatively called Upstarts: Founders, Failure, and the Start-Up Paradox. This project is informed by my experience as the founder of TerraProForma, from 2016 – 2020.
I have been involved with marketing and business planning since the mid-1990s. My areas of interest and expertise include post-secondary culture in Canada, the business value of social licence, customer engagement and experience, hospitality and entertainment, and gamification.
Between 2015 and 2018 I published articles in Canadian Gaming Business Magazine. My blog has been used to demonstrate my research-informed lateral approach to common business issues. I have led the research and writing of white papers on social license and other topics and created a publication called “The Insider’s Guide to the Business of Canadian Casinos”, both through a consulting collective. Finally, I have and continue to ghost-write copy that appears in newsletters and other formats.
Visit the Upstarts website if you are a founder with a story to share.
